Q: Why is my dishwasher not filling with water when I start a cycle?

A: A dishwasher that won’t fill with water is usually caused by a closed water supply valve, a kinked supply line, a door latch issue, a stuck float/float switch, or a failed water inlet valve. In some cases, the dishwasher may also be stuck in drain mode or have a control problem. There are a few safe checks you can do first, but repeated no-fill problems usually need service.
